As Set 11 winds down, speculation surrounding TFT Set 12 is mounting. Which League of Legends champions will be involved? What are the themes and mechanics of the new TFT set? When will Set 12 be released? Don’t worry—we’re here to answer all your questions. Gear up for some magic, mischief, and even bees, and let’s dive into the details of TFT Set 12.

TFT Set 12: Release Date

TFT 2024 roadmap

According to the official TeamFight Tactics 2024 Roadmap released last year, TFT Set 12 Magic n' Mayhem will be released towards the end of July 2024.

Going by the in-game TFT Set 11 Inkborn Fables Battle Pass timer, we can also see TFT Set 11 ends on July 31. This means TFT Set 12 will likely go live on July 31 later in the day, coincidentally when League of Legends patch 14.15 releases. The Public Beta Environment (PBE) for TFT Set 12 will begin two weeks in advance, likely on July 16 or 17.

If you’re logging onto the TeamFight Tactics PBE servers, you’ll see the new champions, items, and set mechanics. Be aware that while playing on the PBE, you may encounter connectivity issues, bugs, and other problems as Riot continues to develop the new set before its official release. You will also not make any Battle Pass progress while playing on the PBE.

TFT Set 12: Theme

New TFT Set

Using the TFT 2024 Roadmap as a guide, the theme for Set 12 is themed all around “Magic, Mayhem… and Bees?” as its main description. The art for TFT Set 12 also looks similar to Yuumi’s iconic Book of Thresholds, implying that she could be a Tier 5 Legendary character.

While this gives little to no information away, we know that there are many League of Legends bee-themed skins for certain characters who could make their appearance in the TFT arena:, would you bee-lieve it?

  • Blitzcrank
  • Heimerdinger
  • Kog’Maw
  • Malzahar
  • Nunu & Willump
  • Orianna
  • Singed
  • Teemo
  • Veigar
  • Vel’Koz
  • Yuumi
  • Ziggs

With the new patch release lining up with TFT Set 11’s end date, there may also be new characters being added to the bee universe skin line.

In a recent interview, TeamFight Tactics Game Design and Gameplay Director Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer recently spilled the beans on a confirmed champion showing their face in TFT Set 12. Neeko will return to TFT with a magical twist, fielding her recent passive rework. In the new TFT set, Neeko will have the ability to transform into a Scuttle Crab and even other creatures or champions.

TFT Set 12: Mechanics

Even though the TFT Set 12 release date is right around the corner, we’re still in the dark about the specific mechanics and exact details surrounding the upcoming new TFT set. We can expect that TFT Set 12 will likely feature similar or the same set formats, PvE encounters, and mechanics taken from Set 11.

The realm of possibilities is endless with the mechanics they can choose for the magical world of TeamFight Tactics!

Charms

Charms will be the center of TFT Set 12 as the main mechanic. These are ffects that can be bought from the Shop, with over 100 Charms set to launch with Magic n' Mayhem TFT Set 12.

Charms will be available in the Shop from Stage Two, with early-game Charms offering minor effects, like making you lose 4 HP, spawning Voidling upon champion death, etc. There will be five different types of Charm, each offering unique bonues.

New Traits

As always with a new TFT set, there will be brand-new Traits to look forward to. The confirmed Traits for TFT Set 12 are:

  • Arcana
  • Chrono
  • Dragon
  • Druid
  • Eldritch
  • Faerie
  • Frost
  • Honeymancy
  • Portal
  • Pyro
  • Ravenous
  • Relic
  • Sugarcraft
  • Witchcraft

Augments

TFT Set 12 will likely feature Augments, one of the most popular features in the game mode and a TFT set staple. Augments provide three randomized bonuses throughout the game to aid your units or help with your team comp. They can often push you towards a specific build or add unique buffs that work with any team composition.

Augments add a degree of variance to every game, making each match unique. If you pick your Augments wisely with the right TFT builds, you’re almost guaranteed a win or podium finish.

Bans or Draft Picks

In his recent interview, Mortdog shared his thoughts on the TFT in-game shop, items, and Augments forcing players into specific builds or compositions without offering everything they need to be successful. For example, you could get pushed toward a Reaper build but not be given the item components for your carry champions so you're stuck in an awkward middle ground with an imcomplete build.

This raises the question of “draft picks” or “bans,” where players could have the ability to ban items, Augments, or champions that don’t serve their ultimate goal. This could then free up excess champions for other players in the game wanting to pick them up.
